Why this story
means so much to me.
As my mother entered hospice, I promised to carry the torch. Although Elsie was my great-grandmother, I was only beginning to discover the extent of her work.
The seven little blue How to Get Anything You Want books connected me to the big red Brainology I had loved as a child. What began with those books became years of library visits, conversations with historians and discoveries of letters, manuscripts, photographs and travel albums.
I’ve been piecing the story together and digitizing material along the way. Now I’m ready to share more of it—not simply as history to admire, but as words and ideas people can encounter for themselves.
That is what this revival means to me: keeping a promise, bringing the work into view, and making room for others to discover it.
